About GeoBarkr
Look around. Guess where you are.
GeoBarkr is a free geography game you play in your web browser at gabarker.com/geobarkr. You're dropped somewhere in the world in Google Street View, look around for clues, then put a pin on the map where you think you are. There's nothing to install.
Read the GeoBarkr privacy policy and terms of service.
How to play
- Each round opens a Street View somewhere in the world. Turn, zoom and move along the road to look for clues: signs, languages, which side people drive on, the plants and the landscape.
- Tap the map where you think you are, then press Guess.
- The map shows the real place, a line from your guess and how far away you were.
- The closer you are, the more points you score: up to 5,000 a round, with full marks within 10 metres.
- A game is five rounds. Your total and everyone's guesses are saved in My games.
Three ways to play
- Solo: five rounds on your own.
- With friends online: everyone plays on their own phone or computer. One person creates the game and shares the room code or QR code; everyone sees each other's guesses when the round ends.
- Party on a big screen: Street View goes on a TV or laptop for the whole room, and everyone guesses on their phone. The host can end a round when everyone's ready.
Accounts
You need a free account to play, so your games, scores and the all-time leaderboard work across devices and other players can see who guessed what. Sign up with an email address and password, or with Google.
Why GeoBarkr asks for your Google details
If you choose to sign in with Google, GeoBarkr asks Google for your name, email address and profile photo, and nothing else. They are used only to create your account and sign you in, to give you a starting display name (which you can change) and a profile picture shown to the players you play with, and to contact you about your account. They are stored securely, never sold, never used for advertising and never shared; your email is never shown to other players. The privacy policy explains exactly what is collected, how it's used and stored, and how to delete it.
Who makes it
